Located in downtown Shanghai, the new office marked a significant step in Unlimit’s regional expansion, strengthening its ability to serve Chinese merchants pursuing international growth. With an established network of local clients and partners already in place, Unlimit is now even better positioned to help businesses scale globally and contribute to China’s thriving cross-border economy.

The opening came against the backdrop of strong Chinese trade momentum in 2026. According to official data released by the General Administration of Customs of China, China’s foreign trade surged 18.3% year on year in the January-February 2026 period to 7.73 trillion yuan (about US$1.12 trillion), with exports rising 19.2% to 4.62 trillion yuan.

The ceremony brought together guests and partners to celebrate Unlimit’s expanding role in the market and its broader ambitions across the region. It also reflected the company’s focus on building the programmable financial infrastructure that merchants need to move and settle value seamlessly across borders.

Michele Fung, Head of APAC at Unlimit, opened the ceremony with welcome notes. Chief Commercial Officer Wolf Ruzicka delivered a speech on AI and agentic commerce, connecting the discussion to Unlimit’s mission to provide the financial rails that businesses need to operate and scale in the next era of global trade.

“Shanghai is an important milestone in our APAC journey and a reflection of our long-term commitment to China,” said Michele Fung, Head of APAC at Unlimit. “We’re excited to deepen our support for local merchants and partners as they expand internationally and take advantage of new opportunities in cross-border commerce.”

“China’s businesses are not just selling across borders, they are building global businesses that need to move and settle value as easily as information. Shanghai puts Unlimit’s programmable financial infrastructure on the ground where that ambition is strongest, and it anchors our long-term commitment to powering APAC merchants in the next era of cross-border, agentic commerce.”  said Irene, CEO of Global Payments.

The opening of the Shanghai office underscored Unlimit’s confidence in China’s long-term opportunity. As the company continued to invest in building its global infrastructure across APAC, it said it looked forward to sharing more plans in the future.
